You feel anxious when someone pulls away, overwhelmed during conflict, or disconnected when things get too vulnerable. Part of you wants connection, while another part feels guarded or on edge. You may feel your stomach leaping or chest tightening, as you try to figure out why you are the only one that can solve everyone's problems. I work with first-generation individuals, who hold it together for their family, while quietly fighting people-pleasing and guilt that follow them into every other relationship. I know how jarring it is to find help that doesn’t need you to over-explain everything in context.
