You understand yourself well, maybe too well. You can name your triggers and still find yourself in the same cycles with substances, sex, gambling, or food. My clients are self-aware people who have developed real insight into their patterns and are frustrated that insight hasn't been enough. They know their codependency but still leave a conversation with their parents feeling ten years old. Trauma has a way of keeping us stuck not because we lack insight, but because insight alone doesn't change behavior.
