Therapy is a space where the past and present can be looked at through new eyes, recontextualized and reunderstood. Far from an academic exercise, a safe therapeutic space that allows for this work can open new possibilities for self-directed living in the world and relating to others. I work with patients to illuminate, clarify, and construct a space where old ways of relating and entrenched patterns of suffering can be understood and moved beyond. While this experience can be challenging, it can also profoundly rewarding.
