Painful experiences and emotions are challenging yet it is the secondary hurt caused by shame and guilt that can further amplify suffering. It can often feel confusing, stuck and lead to ways of coping that are misaligned with what you are truly wanting out of life. Maybe it perpetuates isolation, keeps you in unhealthy relationships, creates difficulty with communicating your thoughts, feelings or needs, set boundaries, functionally lead into conflict and respond in ways that are constructive in relationships. Knowing more about how these parts of self function is the first step but requires radical acceptance and self-compassion.
