Every person who chooses therapy does so for a unique combination of reasons, as my patients have revealed to me in twenty-five years of private practice. No one fits into simple categories, teens especially. Some are impacted by events long ago, others by recent setbacks, while most are triggered by a combination of influences known and unknown. Working with children and adolescents, I understand these manifold pressures are sometimes accompanied by resistance to change, thereby limiting the otherwise positive support offered by family and friends.
